Art Crawl

Are you an arts student, or person in general, looking for something to do on a Saturday night? (The answer is yes!) Look no further than the Art Crawl: you'll meet exciting new artists, see artwork, shop for handcrafted goods, and leave your inconsolable boredom and loneliness behind. It’s completely free to attend, aside from the shopping bit, and a great way to explore the Nashville Art Scene. On the first Saturday of every month, galleries such as Chauvet, Zeitgeist, David Lusk, Coop, etc. host receptions, openings, and exhibits on the same night to allow for lots of gallery hopping. Several galleries offer light snacks, and Coop will often have an outdoor market with handmade products.

In 2006, the Arts Company (now Chauvet), TAG (now Tinny Contemporary), and one or two other galleries began the Art Crawl. It quickly became a sensation, and many other galleries joined and based themselves in the Arcade, which was the heart of the Art Crawl for many years. This brought a lot of vitality and excitement to Downtown Nashville, and became a staple of its culture. Unfortunately due to several issues, the galleries had to leave the Arcade and spread out. Now the Art Crawl is a citywide event with around fifty galleries participating, and thousands of visitors.

The next four Art Crawls will take place on March 2, April 6, May 4, and June 1. Some exhibitions to look forward to in March: The Division of Acclimatization by Jacklyn Brickman at Coop Gallery, Cosmic Dust by Greely Myatt at David Lusk, and an Exhibition with Nick Fagan & Lori Anne Parker-Danley at Tinney Contemporary, not to mention so many more. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday Night, and a delightful event for all ages.
