On Thursday, February 13th, the Nashville School of the Arts hosted a powerful and inspiring Black History Month performance celebrating Black culture, history, and contributions through music, dance, and spoken word.
The event featured a talented lineup of student performers, including Millie Miree, Nia Washington, Leslie Hammonds, Darren Ekezie, Marcus Robinson, Jaliyah Jordan, Tsurah Waire, Ariah McEwen, Jamya Conner, Kaori White, Benji Simmons, Ella Tisdale, Olivia Byrd, Makayla Phillips, Christina Pope, and The Wondering 3.
Through poetry, singing, instrumental performances, and dance, the students honored the resilience, creativity, and impact of Black pioneers throughout history. The performance was a moving tribute to Black excellence, showcasing the incredible talent within NSA’s student body while fostering cultural awareness and appreciation within the school community.
Special thanks to Dr. Barbour, Ms. Owens, Ms. Crockett, Kelvin Graves, and Jaliyah Jordan for planning such an amazing performance!
