The NSA Radio guitar show was an interesting mix of nostalgic music from the past and experimental music from the new modern era. From Phoebe Bridgers to Led Zeppelin, the show was nothing short of spectacular.
The swing/bluegrass band opened up the show with an upbeat but moody rendition of “How High The Moon'' and an uppity bluegrass version of “Nothing You Can Take From Me” from the new prequel of the Hunger Games franchise. "We like to kick it old school with class," says guitar teacher Mr. Murphey.
The rock band came up and quite literally “rocked’’ the stage with covers of the Eagles, Fiona Apple, and Pink Floyd songs. They worked the crowd and nostalgically performed some famous throwbacks like “When Love Comes To Town” by U2 and B.B. King. They also performed “Crossroads” by Cream.
After a brief intermission, another experimental rock band in the conservatory came up and rocked out with covers of Nirvana, Phoebe Bridgers, and Van Halen! The band certainly had a notable Led Zeppelin tribute that left us all wanting more. Gabe Grizzard, who has opened up for Trisha Yearwood, played with The Grateful Dead tribute band, and even played with Jimmy Fallon, wowed the crowd with his remarkable, accurate, and incredible drum solo during the Zeppelin tribute.
The show closed with a slow rock version of “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd, which was lo-fi but vehement. The singer cut right through and delivered an experimental vibe to the song. In summary, the show was strong, beautiful, and insanely well done. All the kids did an outstanding job, and the show was extremely memorable.
