ATTENTION! Stop what you’re doing! Let the microwave beep! Drop that makeup mirror! Unless it’s 11:59 p.m., the assignment submission can wait! Are you paying attention? Don’t open TikTok!

Okay, I think all distractions have been eliminated. In that case, I would like to introduce you to two celebrities: Milo and Pickles! They belong to NSA junior Jessie Knight. Milo is lying in front stretching his paws, and Pickles is sitting up (probably trying to be taller than his brother). I hope you’re ready to sing, because Milo just turned one! Also, you’ve missed 13 of Pickles’ birthdays, so save some energy for him, too!

Judging by the dogs’ cheerful faces, you probably wouldn’t guess how many obstacles almost interfered with this happy ending.  Adopting Pickles was a difficult journey for Knight’s family. They were searching for a corgi but always came up empty-handed.

“Then covid hit and we were still looking, but we were losing hope,” Knight recalled.

A text message about a corgi in need of a home couldn’t have come at a better time. In the midst of masks and social distancing, one thing became predictable: hanging out with Pickles.  According to Knight, “Pickles loves to cuddle.”

A little over a year ago, Knight’s family suspected that Pickles was lonely. Concerned about his wellbeing, they decided to make room for another dog in their household. They contacted an online seller and paid for a corgi puppy. Unfortunately, they soon discovered that the listing was fake.

“We got scammed out of our money,” Knight explained.

A few weeks later, Knight’s family was notified about another corgi available for adoption. They were hesitant to go through the process, still shaken up from last time.

“We decided to take a chance,” Knight said. That’s how they found Milo: an energetic puppy to keep Pickles company.

Okay, I guess you can go back to whatever you were doing before. I doubt you’ll be able to see through the tears in your eyes, though.
